Course Objectives: Following this activity, participants should be able to:
  1. Understand the current targets of diabetes treatment, i.e. A1c, FPG and PPG and discuss the therapeutic options for the treatment of diabetes to reach these targets.
  2. Discuss the basic physiology surrounding the use of injectable insulin in Type 2 diabetes (calculating starting doses, mixed insulin and basal/bolus treatments).
  3. Discuss the recently approved inhaled insulin, its prescribing indications and calculating starting doses.

Target Audience: Primary Care Physicians as well as other Health Care Professionals
