Course Objectives: Following this activity, participants should be able to:
  1. Discuss the diagnostic overview and epidemiology of bipolar disorder incorporating up to date screening tools
  2. Describe the therapeutic approaches to the treatment of acute mania and the rationale for the use of atypical antipsychotics as well as compare with traditional mood stabilizers in acute mania
  3. Understand the risks in the use of currently available therapies in coming across the "best fit" for patients suffering from acute mania
